I love productivity concepts because they teach you a lot about yourself and often reveal your greatest strengths and weaknesses. When I developed the Productive Points system, I did it knowing full well that one area where I needed a lot of help and attention was in getting better at *delaying gratification.* And I know I’m not alone on this one. Rewards are a powerful way to motivate yourself to get things done. These “carrots” are the entire foundation of my productivity system because they encourage you to delay gratification until you’ve made significant progress with your most important tasks, goals, and daily habits.
I’m a sucker for points. In fact, we all are. If you think about it, we’re all motivated in different ways. But boil down motivation to one simple ingredient, and it’s almost always about “getting the right marks” and then feeling good about it.
